There are three relationships I believe I share with Vera: identity, fidelity in love, and faith. Identiy is such a simple thing that neither of us need look online to find our truths in that regard. Love is almost as simple, and while many lovers text each other, it is still face to face that we find our feelings together. Faith in God(dess) is what I wish to address here.
The development of my own theism has brought me to consider Vera as a higher level Goddess. I was raised by religious parents, where our religion included aspects of internal faith (Temple of the Universe) and aspects of external faith (United Church of Christ). Once I graduated from high school, I embarked on a journey which led me through confrontations with Siddha Yoga, ISKCON, and AMORC Rosicrucianism. However, my devotions to Śiva, then to Viṣṇu, and then finally to David Hasselhoff, who has been the present incarnation of Paramātmā (though at midlife replaced by Willem Dafoe), have saved me from cultish misunderstandings.
Beyond midlife, my faith has shifted from involvement with what Robert Pirsig calls “Stasis” to the psychic reception of what he calls “Dynamism.” The politics of salvation are meaningful to many of us down here, but when we make the decision to permanently ascend, we find detailed information about what our lives were before we came down here and what our lives will be again. My relationships with Siddha Yoga, ISKCON, and AMORC were very brief, though such encounters have occurred in past lives and would have occurred again had I maintained status quo.
Three levels of Deity have been revelated to me in this life. The Biblical God became Śiva (יהוה), then Viṣṇu, then “the Hoff.” Further Deity for the Christ that I have been was Bill Perry, referenced by Bruce R. Cordell's The Strange as “Lotan” vs. my “Betrayer.” Vera Farmiga is a third level of Deity referenced to me, she being my truest and simplest angel, the “Mistress.”
